Today a major heat wave is across much of US.

This can cause stresses on the power systems during peak loads times. Hot night times also don't always allow power systems equipment to cool down properly.

Using the Fleet Open/Closed service, users are able to see the impacts of prolonged heat waves have on potential power outages for essential service providers .

Solutions Tested during JONAS

The AHC tested a new solutions during winter storm JONAS.

A new Disaster Dashboard app that allows the ability to merge various types of information into a single, graphical app that expedites decision making and gets government and industry on the same page regionally.
 
•Problem Statement
–During large, regional storms/disasters, the private needs to move fleets and resources quickly across state lines. Getting reliable situational awareness and information is difficult in order to support this. Decision makers needs the big picture. Government cannot assist private sector if they don’t know what is going on.

•Solution
–Create visual, real-time mechanism to view and collaborate during a regional disaster
–Merge information from disparate sources & in different formats to provide decision makers a simple view of the big picture so they can make decisions faster

Partnering with NOAA and StormCenter Inc, this collaborative capability allows for multiple layers of data to be shared at the regional, local or national level to support decision makers.

This slide show both public information and private sector information being merged together in support of the electric sector’s need to expedite fleet movement across state lines and the state’s desire to have situational awareness with private sector needs during a disaster

This capability can:
  • Central state disaster declarations, waivers and other guidance to private sector in a single place
  • Provide contact information
  • Give live update
  • Access to real-time status and directions to private sector business who can provide essential services to citizen and out if region response crews who need fuel, food, hotel rooms, medications, water, building supplies, etc.. …. in the impacted areas
  • Access to live NOAA weather data
  • Access to estimated fleet movement data provide by the private sector so states can understand and support as needed

Enables NEW Decision Making and Situational Awareness Capabilities
  • This Help Desk capability supports decision makers in government & industry
  • Merges public and private sector information to have situational awareness during a disaster (e.g. data streams, pics, docs, pdfs, screen shots, etc.…)
  • Allows collaboration of live and static data
  • Creates custom dashboard to centralize information by Use Case, Sector, Incident, etc…
  • Future Use Cases will create other operational decision making tools

2015 Hurricane Season announcement

As companies and states on the East Coast begin to prepare for the 2015 hurricane season, the members of the Fleet Response Working Group (FRWG) are working hard to prepare for support that might be needed by the electric sector or other sectors that are impacted by any potential storms.

 As part of these preparation activities, the FRWG is announcing its latest product which is an online service designed to provide real-time, situational awareness information too companies that may need to know where they can find and be routed to open stores and locations, in areas where the power has been knocked out,  for the following private sector provided essential goods & services:

  • fuel
  • water
  • supplies
  • medications
  • shelter
  • food
  • building materials
  • related to essential services

The new FLEET OPEN/CLOSED service was officially released in January 2015 at the Annual FRWG meeting in Philadelphia, PA.


UNIQUE OFFERING
Unlike any other service available today, this service provides real-time, 24×7 access to information that is refreshed hourly from dedicated data connections to point-of-sale systems around the country.

This information is reliable and is currently being used by both public and private organizations who need VALIDATED information in order to make decisions that impact costs, resources, and the lives of of their employees and customers.

Knowing quickly where to go to buy these essential services saves time, money and lives by reducing lost time wasted driving around looking for open stores that have what you need during power outages caused by storms, hurricanes, tornadoes, etc...

2015 PRICING MODEL
New pricing models are now available which will offer any size organization access to a national map with hundreds of thousands of data points that provide real-time open/closed status of these stores and locations.

Pricing consists of a monthly FRWG subscription fee PLUS a service fee.

  • The monthly fee enrolls you into the FRWG.
  • The service fee uses a pay "when you need it" model much like the "pay-per-view" services from your cable tv providers. You select the plan you want, pay with credit card, create your account, and the your access is granted. Once the time limit is reached, your access is automatically turned off. To reopen it, you repeat the process (except for your FRWG annual subscription fee of course).

Annual FRWG Fee: $25.00/month

This service is only provided to FRWG members on good standing (e.g. fees paid, etc...) and who have accepted the Terms and Conditions of the service during their purchase process.
